Custom Mudroom: Design + Details

Sharing my plans for our mudroom project. Fun tile, gorgeous light fixture, classic accessories, and custom builtins will transform this small mudroom.

I shared before photos and inspiration images for the mudroom project last week. You can read all about it and see the space pre-makeover here (Custom Mudroom Inspiration).

I drew so much inspiration from very talented designers, but I know by now that in order to truly love the space forever it still needs to be “me.” So, it’s not shocking that this project is going to be filled with blues, whites, and woven textures. I mean… this is Fraiche & Co., what do you expect!?

The design is my favorite part of any project. I just feel really in my element scouring the internet for products and piecing them together, like one giant puzzle. I love to incorporate an additional color in almost all of my designs, and this time it’ll be a subtle pop of blush. I’ve been using blush a lot lately and feel it is just the perfect complement to the bright, airy and coastal vibe that I’ve created in our home.

Drum roll please! Without further ado, I present you… THE MUDROOM DESIGN!

Gosh this might be my favorite design yet. It just feels so me. Its simple yet sophisticated and I just love how the colors and textures and patterns play off of one another.

Every single piece is chosen with care and with functionality in mind. This is the third go-around with the former laundry/mudroom, so if this doesn’t ease the chaos and shoe nightmare then pour me a glass of wine because I am not okay!! Ha!

Design Details – Flooring

Floor Tile Nanda Tiles Miranda Bohemia

I mean come on!! This tile is such a show stopper. It for sure stopped me. Dead in my tracks and I still can’t look away. I researched endlessly for tile and was close to loving a few, but none like this!

I love the natural edges, the imperfections and of course the colors! This is the Bohemia Miranda by Nando Tiles. And I am so excited to be working with Tiles Direct on this project and to show you just how beautiful this work of art is!

Knotted Brass Hooks

Adeline Kitchen Hook by Anthropologie

I really wanted to focus on the details in this mudroom project and by golly that brass knot is as detailed as it gets! I just love the playful nature of the piece and yet the sophistication still shines through.

This is the Adeline Knotted Kitchen Hook and it is pricier than I would typically spend on hardware, but well worth it to me. It is not outrageously priced but if ordering several, it is definitely something to consider and a great area to save money if the budget is tight!

Lighting Design for Mudroom

I mean whaaaaaat!? Does it get anymore beautiful? After having a flush mount without a shade for the last two years I knew I needed a light fixture that was bold. It took some time trying to find the right one, without clashing with the Flora Rattan Pedant just outside the mudroom.

This is the Elegant Capiz Shell Ceiling Light from Shades of Light. I am over the moon excited to be working with them on this project. They are Virginia based and it always feels good to support companies from your own state. Their selection for lighting is next level. Here is a round up of some other lighting options I considered for the project.

I’ve linked all of these to my LTK account, so head here if you’re interested in shopping any of these gorgeous fixtures!

Mudroom Storage Details

Riviera Basket from Serena and Lily

Function is the name of the game for this space. I need a good solid storage option that is not going to fall apart in one week and that is easy for the kids to pull out and put back. These Sunwashed Riviera Bins are definitely an investment but the reviews are amazing so I’m hopeful there will be enough money in the budget to splurge on these beauties!

Designer Pillows

Serena & Lily throw pillows

I don’t do designer pillows often, because well I have three young kids who smear food on everything they touch! I love them, but its true… So, the fact that I’m putting these designer pillows in this space tells you a few things:

  • This room is really special to me
  • These pillows are gorgeous and worth every penny
  • They’re on sale

Haha but really, the last bullet point is the kicker. They are on sale and my wonderful husband got me a gift card to Serena & Lily for Christmas. Even if you don’t have a gift card, this duo is gorgeous together and both are well priced! This is Miramonte Pillow Cover and the Tarifa Pillow Cover in Wild Rose.

I can’t wait to get started on demo and get this project rolling! First thing up is laying down that gorgeous new tile from Tiles Direct! Stay Tuned!
